If you purchased your car from a private party, which includes person to person transactions, we can have your registration in about 15 minutes or less, if you can wait!

These types of transactions must be sent directly to DMV for processing.

TITLE OR OWNERSHIP DOCUMENTS
You must bring in the original title or ownership documents. This includes any and all paperwork that was given by a car dealer including reassignments and bill of sale.
*Copies of paperwork will not be accepted, unless title is not being changed.

INSURANCE ID CARD
- A current NYS scannable insurance card is vital. No insurance no plates.
- The effective date on the card must be within 180 days of today.
- Your full name must also be listed as it appears on your license or abbreviated where necessary.

*For business', the insurance card must match your filing receipt.
​
IDENTIFICATION
You must have a valid NYS ID, 6 points of ID or filing receipt if you are a business in order to register a vehicle

PURPOSE​

Used to register vehicles, renew vehicle registration, amend or request duplicate vehicle registration.

Used to register a boat.

Use this form to show proof of a vehicle ownership transfer through a private sale.

Use this form to certify sale price for sales tax calculation when vehicle, vessel, etc. is transferred in a casual sale or as a gift.

Use when you are claiming exemption from sales tax for any reason other than a gift (then use DTF-802) or credit for taxes paid to other states (then use DTF-804)
​
​
Used when a New York resident purchases a vehicle out-of-state, registers the vehicle in New York State and applies for credit for the sales tax paid in the other state.
